As we celebrating 16 years in journey of community services, we have collaborated with numerous organisations and made a great IMPACT in the community.
Here are few examples -
- Post Earthquake rebuild - Volunteered Addington Action Committee.
- Post Earthquake resources - Supplied clothes, baby toys and gifts to Women refugee center.
- Conducted Malayalam class for kids.
- Student support for their stay and refer them for part time job during their studies (students from Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab).
- Submitted Letters for character references, Partnership support for Permanent Residence and Work permits for CKA members and answered the immigration enquiries.
- Achieved a slot for Malayalee community in Plains FM Radio 96.9, This is the first ever radio channel for Malayalee community - Namasthe Kerala. Covers various topics and current affairs for the Malayalee and wider Indian community in Christchurch and will include local news, job opportunities and news affairs in India.
- Since 2005 organised cultural events such as Onam, Vishu/Easter and Christmas annually and catered the food.
- CKA helped many families who were affected by the 2012 earthquake for their accommodation.
- Helped the other Indian Associations and CKA members contributed financially to help other struggling members.
- Made regular bookings for Basketball training on Friday’s, bookings for Badminton on Tuesdays.
- Organise tournaments for badminton, soccer, cricket for the community for past 10 years.
- Answered to all queries from abroad about the life in New Zealand.
